The Curieux Project is a poetic exploration of the relationship between man and science, realized by a team of passionate doctoral students and digital artist Laurent La Torpille. This work was presented during the Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs 2017, an event organized by the François Bonamy Federative Research Structure (SFR Santé).

The Curieux Project began in September 2016 when a group of doctoral students from various research fields, ranging from biology to the history of science, teamed up with digital artist Laurent La Torpille. Their collaboration was facilitated by the University of Nantes and Stereolux, particularly Stereolux's digital art laboratory.

Instead of focusing on popularizing science, the team chose to draw inspiration from the three major stages of the doctoral thesis: fundamental research and methodology, exploration and testing, and finally, demonstration.

The final result was a live performance during the Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs, where the five doctoral students joined Laurent La Torpille to create a series of dreamlike paintings. Each participant contributed to a part of the creation, including colors, architecture, shapes, text, music, and technology.

The Curieux Project is an artistic achievement that intersects health, research, and digital technology. It questions the relationship between man and science and successfully integrates the human element into digital arts. This poetic and ambitious work brings together two seemingly opposite worlds: art and science. It raises the question of the possibility of translating a thesis into digital art.

Le Projet Curieux est une exploration poétique du rapport entre l'homme et la science, réalisée par une équipe de doctorants passionnés et l'artiste numérique Laurent La Torpille. Cette œuvre a été présentée lors de la Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs 2017, un événement organisé par la Structure Fédérative de Recherche François Bonamy (SFR Santé).

Le Projet Curieux a débuté en septembre 2016, lorsque un groupe de doctorants aux sujets de recherche variés, allant de la biologie à l'histoire des sciences, s'est associé à l'artiste numérique Laurent La Torpille. Leur collaboration a été facilitée par l'Université de Nantes et Stereolux, en particulier le laboratoire d'art numérique de Stereolux.

Au lieu de se concentrer sur la vulgarisation scientifique, l'équipe a choisi de s'inspirer des trois grandes étapes de la thèse de doctorat : la recherche fondamentale et la méthodologie, l'exploration et les tests, et enfin la démonstration.

Le résultat final a été une performance en direct lors de la Nuit Blanche des Chercheurs, où les cinq doctorants ont rejoint Laurent La Torpille pour créer une série de tableaux oniriques. Chaque participant a contribué à une partie de la création, allant des couleurs à l'architecture, des formes au texte, et de la musique à la technologie.

Le Projet Curieux est une réalisation artistique qui se situe à l'intersection de la santé, de la recherche et du numérique. Il interroge le rapport entre l'homme et la science et réussit à intégrer l'humain dans les arts numériques. Cette œuvre poétique et ambitieuse réunit deux mondes qui semblent à première vue opposés : l'art et la science. Elle pose la question de la possibilité de retranscrire une thèse sous forme d'arts numériques.
